Lanka Biogas Association provides its members with the opportunities to promote biogas systems, creating awareness, training, research and development, and capacity building; introducing and transferring of technologies and approaches; advocating, influencing and shaping policies, laws and regulations that impact biogas systems; providing information and resources and offering networking and partnership platforms for collaboration for synergy to exploit the opportunities and address the challenges in promotion of biogas systems as appropriate.

Membership in Lanka Biogas Association will provide mutual benefits to individuals, companies, institutions, and the nation in providing a conducive environment and mobilising resources to promote the benefits from biogas systems in the short, medium and long term. We welcome and invite individuals, and like-minded institutions, companies, and other organizations to unify and get strengthened and reap mutual benefits while contributing to a prosperous and sustainable world for  the present and future generations to live equitably, leaving no-one behind.

Membership Categories

The members of the Association are divided in to two categories

  1. Individual Members and
  2. Corporate Members

1. Individual Members

(i). Fellows

Fellows shall be elected by the Board of Directors of the Association from among good standing Individual Members

(ii). Individual Members

Members shall be persons elected by the Board of Directors of the Association, on the nomination of two members, and upon such persons having satisfied the Board of Directors that they have been engaged in the promotion of use of biogas for a period of five years or more

(iii). Associate Members

Associate Members shall be persons elected by the Board of Directors of the Association, on the nomination of two members, and upon such persons having satisfied the Board of Directors that they have an interest and potential to engage in the promotion of use of biogas

(iv). Students

Students shall be persons who have satisfied the Board of Directors that they are following a course of studies having close relations to the promotion of use of biogas in secondary level or above acceptable to the Board of Directors of the Association

2. Corporate Members

Corporate Members shall be Firms or State Owned Enterprises engaged in Livestock, Waste Management, Power Generation, Agriculture, Commerce or Industry, or Businesses engaged in Education & Research or any other activity related to promotion of use of biogas which are duly elected to membership of the Association as acceptable to the Board of Directors of the Association

Membership Application Procedure

Election to Membership, Associate Membership, Student Membership or Corporate Membership of the Association shall be at the discretion of the Board of Directors, and conditional upon the signing of a written application giving all particulars, documents, reports or making presentations etc as requested for by the Board of Directors, in such form as the Board of Directors may prescribe, subject to agreement to be bound by these presents and the by-laws of the Association.

Members who satisfy the relevant criteria set out in the by-laws of the Association may request for upgrading their membership status by completing a new Membership application and furnishing all relevant records, documents, activities and details to support such application.

Applications for membership and/or for upgrading of membership shall be subject to an enrolment fee or an upgrading fee and a membership fee for the appropriate grade, as may be decided by the Board of Directors.
